A very satisfying number

screenshot_021.jpg So there it is, as of right now, I just clocked up over 50,000 words in the writing of TableRappers - Persistent Spirit. And they are pretty good words.

Which equates, according to this particular popup information dialog, to almost 140 pages of a printed novel. Of course, that all depends on the size of page and type, but it is still a good number.

I do not have a specific word target for the book - it’s daft really, how can you possible form an idea of how long a book is going to be before you have written it? It is all based on the story and the number of words required by that story in the telling of it. But I have a gut feeling that I am about half way to completion. There’s no real point to this post other than to express a little self celebration at this landmark of words (a wordmark?).

So, all together now: “Yay!”

Thank you.

Feel free to stand in the kitchen for the remainder of the evening and chat to yourselves about the finger food, I’ll be off now to start the second half before someone puts on the Tainted Love EP.

  1. I am so frickin’ impressed with you. _So_ impressed.

  2. Thank you, pete.
Be less impressed, however, that I have not yet started that mentioned “second half” due to a plotting problem. Argh, this is when the weekly deadlines work against me.

  3. Yay!

I’m having a bash at writing at soccer book, one blog entry at a time.

I’ve picked a theme that I’ll stick to. I reckon if I blog daily for 6-12 months I should have a book’s worth of material to play around with.

  4. Daily blogging, that’s a challenge! Lots of positive vibes from this direction, Phil, enjoy your writing journey.

  5. Lordy, what am I doing? I should probably work on my self-promotion a bit as well as my daily blogging:

http://soccershout.com (or http://soccershout.com/feed for the RSS)

“A blog about the football’s downward spiral
and what can be done to make the game better than ever.”

Thanks for the good wishes. Six days and counting!
