More art

No Exercise
It has been a while since I’ve created image of these strange asexual characters. On waking this morning the basic elements of this drawing were clear in my mind so I stole a few minutes here and there throughout the day to put pen to paper - or rather pen to Moleskine.

This drawing satisfies me a great deal - moreso than most I have done recently. Having been away from this form of expression for so long I have quite a journey in rediscovery, once again finding what imagery and style I feel most appropriate to me, personally.

These odd creatures have offered me a means to express all kinds of - sometimes uncomfortable and unpleasant - ideas, visually. I always find it difficult to deal with the contrast in the art which struggles to the surface. When I walk outdoors, I want to capture what I see and what I feel about a place. But opposing that is a need to express darker imagery dealing with some of the less than pleasant aspects of the world, generally the human world, I experience as I go through life. These asexual creatures developed as a result of trying to ensure that friends and family never recognised themselves within a piece of my art. Or if they did, then they would at least be confronting that aspect of themselves which drove me to create the image in the first place.

Contrast is the key. Diametrically opposed elements making up the whole. I see it in my creative work, I see it in the more interesting and stimulating people I have had the fortune to meet.

An intriguing piece of work. It has a definite Escher-like quality and deserves a wider audience. How about on deviantart.com?

Deviantart.com…? Hmm.. good suggestion, I’d forgotten all about that place.

Sorry about the comment taking time to appear, Gary, it got caught in moderation and I’ve had to little spam recently that I haven’t been in there!
