I have decided to give THIS a go.
That means writing a full feature script in under 6 weeks - since I do not already have one up my sleeve. I have written one, albeit badly, in under two weeks full time, so I know it’s possible and understand the workload commitment.
I’ve been itching to get back into some writing. A handful of years ago I created a TV drama concept, wrote the first episode as a full script and built a complete series bible. Of course I am realistic in understanding the chances of a TV series being selected from a writer with no writing credentials, but it was a very rewarding exercise and I have a sweet stack of rejection letters. That script is soon to be reworked as I have finally realised some of its’ problems which I feel need to be ironed out - a script is never really finished.
So this week I’ll be immersing myself in as much successful but low budget horror as I can squeeze into my spare time. Low budget is essential, so that rules out a number of potential ideas. But rather than constraining creativity, I find that defining some boundaries actually helps my creativity and idea forming - for me an entirely blank canvas is a frightening place I visit with several severed armfuls of fear.
I expect I’ll report on this blog on how the process is going.
