Hotel prices through the roof – but there’s an option

I read an article online recently which highlighted that an American in need of a night in a European hotel, would spend as much money as the cost of an Apple TV. The writer considered the comparative value of the two purchases.
Hotel pricing is one of the reasons PodShow in the UK seleted offices which were dual purpose of office and accommodation combined. When members of the US team are in London, they often stay at the office thus saving quite a considerable amount of money.
Another way to save is to use a specialist hotel price search engine, such as cheaperthanhotels.co.uk/. Looking how it works, it seems to offer last minute discounts – last minute being defined as within the next 21 days – on available hotel rooms in the major cities and other locations around the world. I suppose it makes total sense fo a hotel to discount a service which offers them the opportunity to fill that empty bed – shame the airlines tend not to use that philosophy!
A quick search for a London hotel room for tonight (December 8th), offered a list of 3, 4, and 5 star hotels, in a list of 16 possible locations and on 4 star hotel more than 50% off – seems pretty good. The service offers searching for hotel room discounts in cities around the world, not just London. I can see it being most useful to business people making last minute visits and in need of saving a little money.

YES!
Thank God somebody said it.
You’re right. I’ve known it for a long time, but somehow I keep forgetting. Thank you.
I just downloaded Scrivener this morning, and have something I want to write with it, and was just coming back home feeling a sense of dread about facing the word processor. But instead I’m going to break open a new Moleskine.
Hallelujah!
So, Rupert, was your plan successful?
Agreed. The pen is mightier than the keyboard – at least for thinking one’s stories into being..
Cool.. I’d not seen cheaperthanhotels.co.uk before; we tend to use laterooms.com which has quite a variety of bargains… thinking of booking into a £35 hotel room after the work Christmas party on Tuesday – saves a turbulent trip home!
