Late nights and network frustrations

I’m sure this is my first test!

It’s the DMAs (Digital Music Awards) tomorrow and we have spent the past few (nightmare) days getting everything set up to cover our (Podshow that is) little corner of the evening’s events. A great deal of work, and very little sleep. Despite needing to be at the venue before 10am tomorrow (Tuesday) morning, and being told we’re not getting out of there until at least 1.30 am the following morning, tonight is going to be another very long night.

The plan seems to be tricky to pull off. BTPodshow.com was to provide a small selection of brief highlights of what we are shooting, almost live from the event. Snippets of celebs and general goings on. Snippets because of licenses and agreements with the ‘official’ television coverage preventing any broadcast of our footage too soon after the event. So, utilising the Podshow network, we built a system to stream everything we shoot, live, out to the US where it will be stored, edited down and broadcast at a later date.

The problem is… well… right now the stream on the BTPodshow site is the totally, unedited live stream. Whatever we do - OK I’m back at the hotel doing other stuff, so whatever they do - all that appears is the complete, unedited content - the stuff we cannot show! Argh! It’s frustrating because this strictly is not my problem, but potential subsequent lawsuits could happen if we broadcast any of this stuff live.
