MT advertising

If you listened right to the end of MT#34 you may have heard me mention that the show is now officially signed to the PodShow network (I must remember to discuss this in MT#36!). One of the reasons for doing this was to get some audience-building network-wide promotion for TableRappers, but also the time was right to have these independent works properly involved in the network, though very much independent to my employment with PodShow.

This means in a week or two I will likely be starting a host endorsement campaign within the show. I addition to earning a little extra cash - always nice - I wanted to do this to increase my appreciation and understanding of a producer’s experience of running a campaign. There are a number of requirements for campaigns, such as reporting and ensuring relevant links, mentions etc., and right now I have no direct experience with which to understand the producer’s experience.

Most of my day-to-day efforts have shifted from involvement with the UK production team, to working more deeply with Talent Relations and Campaign Management - the two a much more closely related than was production, but it does mean many more late evening meetings as I work more closely with the San Francisco team. Host endorsement and sponsorship opportunities are increasing significantly and the earnings potential, due to the new way in which we organise, structure and run the campaigns, is almost unlimited for those willing and able to dive in head first and make the most of it. Interestingly, audience size and number of media requests is not as significant in campaign participation selection as it was previously - a very good thing for the “smaller” shows. I therefore felt it would be valuable to fully understand such campaigns from the producer’s perspective, and hopefully learn something which could improve the experience for producers in the future.

Aside from the professional viewpoint, it will be fun to do and give me that additional incentive to get episodes out more frequently!
