No more horror writing

Let’s look at some stats:

  • 8 effective writing days until the script needs to be submitted (must have a postmark no later than march 17)
  • I currently have only 70% of the plotting sorted
  • I currently have 14 pages of written script (half of which needs re-writing)
  • I need to submit at least 90 pages.
  • With potential re-writes that means I need to write around 20 script pages each day

BUT…

  • Yesterday I started work at my desk at 9.30am and finished at 11.30pm - today and tomorrow are likely to be the same
  • I have to get my business accounts up to date over the weekend or I’ll have some major hassle - at least 1 day’s effort, if it goes smoothly.
  • Monday evening is a night out
  • Tuesday or Wednesday will be partially eaten up by a total 5-6 hour (including traveling) visit to a client in London

That all leaves me around 4 potential writing days, each of which therefore require around 30 pages of productivity per day (assuming I don’t get any plot issues to screw things up). Those 4 days also include working a full day on the various deadline-driven client projects I currently have on my plate - discounting any sudden surprise panics.

It just ain’t gonna happen…
Project shelved for someday when there’s time.
I’ll go kick myself for being dumb enough to think it was possible in the current work climate.

It was certainly worth trying. It’s been so pleasurable to see you involved in script writing. Don’t give it up for long though because I’ve got to know the ending!! :D
