In the Spring of 2008 we took a road-trip from Chicago IL, up to Wisconsin, then down through Illinois and Indiana. The twelve day trip was planned to visit family and friends in those areas.
For car rental, we chose the cheapest option from Budget Rent-A-Car. They could provide a car within our budget and to our specifications – which were, admittedly, fairly broad. As we had not pre-booked car rental, we could not use online car rental discount codes to save a little more money.
The initial outbound flight did not go smoothly, however, with the (almost) loss of our bag containing passports, money, and other personal items.
Budget were superb
The stress of the bag loss was significantly alleviated with the help of the assistant at the Budget Rent-A-Car office. He helped us talk to the airport security, arranged transport back to the terminal, where the bag was recovered, and did a terrific job of reducing the stress we were suffering, taking time to deal with us above the cal of duty.
In addition, we got a free upgrade. From our request for the cheapest car they could give us “anything with the right number of wheels would be fine”, we directed, we were given a brand new family SUV. This for the economy car price.
Our trip was a great deal more comfortable, enjoyable, and stress-free from that moment on, and it has given us a very positive memory of Budget Rent-A-Car in the USA.
