Pantone release new style colour guide.

Colour just got bigger.
“…
the most substantial redesign of its flagship product, the PANTONE MATCHING SYSTEM® formula guide, in more than 30 years”

Did anyone actually have real problems with the old ones?
Perhaps regular sales in PMS colour guides have been dropping, and after all, what incentive can you offer to entice upgrades.

The new guides have bigger swatches and are produced on some ultra-techie printing presses which have been ‘precision-engineered’ (are other not so?) and have integrated colour measurement technology. Probably sounds more impressive than it is.
OK, so I’m being a little cynical here, perhaps it’s a case of fixing something that wasn’t broken in the first place.

So, being a pre-press veteran having been involved in countless four colour and spot colour decisions, tweaks, replacements and comparisons, Pantone is saying they’ve got bigger swatches and a fancy new press they’re producing the books on… So, what we’ve all been using since day one has been inaccurate? *tut*
    Nice marketing ploy, Pantone… whatever.
