Commercial Audiobook distribution is flawed. At one time they were only available on cassette tape (remember those?), now it is CD plus some online distribution using DRM (Digital Rights Management) to prevent piracy. Each of these systems is flawed because they cross the boundaries between books and music.

2008 is doing a grand job of eliminating noise and embracing substance - I am sensing an optimism on one particular area that I have not seen for the past two years. This year, podcasting (for want of an alternate name) is finally forging onwards and upwards.

Tea & Podcasts yesterday announced it is shutting down in a month. This is the last dedicated UK podcasting forum which means the only way to openly connect with other producers now falls into the (cringe) social network space.
