It’s official: Stephen King is scared of everything.
In an interview with King on the new adaptation of his classic horror story The Mist, he admits what frightens him:
I’m afraid of everything. It shows in my work. Elevators. Cars. One of the things … the thing that started the new book was basically a combination of an accident that I had and a truck that was backing up, and the beeper was broken and somebody said, “Look out!” And a whole big long novel came out of that.
So the old advice that you should write what you know and from your own personal experience, still rings true even for the horror legend himself. One might think that after so many books he may have run out of experience on which to draw, but it seems not. Though I think we all hope that he does not get any more such direct experience as the above, much publicised, accident.
You can read the interview with King, and Frank Darabont - writer/director of The Mist and two of the best ever King adaptations The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile - over at Sci Fi Weekly.
Love it! Great imagery. Wish people would make more of these films about where they live, they show it how it is! Great soundtrack too.
Really fun little movie. Take more when we go places…
Enjoyed the film–especially the jazz and the swans–some of them were always moving to the beat. I think most people would have picked some slow and dreamy music for them, but that would not have worked nearly as well. Good thinking with the jazz–clever choice, perfect.
Nice one! I loved the soundtrack as well - what was the second track? As an ex- Alto Sax player, I miss dance-band music…
The soundtrack came from standard themes within iMovie/iLife, I’m sure I’ll run out of viable options for the next one!
You should send it to the Winsor tourist board - really shows off the place well. Great lettle movie.
Is that you with the cool beard??
