The most frequent question I’ve been asked over the past couple of days goes something like: “Who’s Kirk, is he you?”.
I’m always updating my Skype Mood Message - for you non-Skypers, that’s a short message that others can see next to your contact name in their Skype contact lists. So I thought, how can we make this a little more fun, give me that extra incentive to update (I know, I know, I have better things to do, but…). So, for no other reason than weirdness, I put up there just one word: ‘kirk’.
The next day, I added a word (don’t ask me what, I wasn’t paying that much attention). It’s now been a week or so, and the (rather surreal) story of Kirk has moved on. Day by day, brief sentence by brief sentence, Kirk’s story develops.
Skype may refer to this little message as a “Mood Message” but all us ageing geeks know it is really a “Status Message”.

I’ve send yu a couple of authorisation requests, no joy! Without that the status message doesn’t update properly.

Hmmm… He said he added you… weird.
Well, until the mystery of the missing Skype contact is solved, you can catch up on the partial story by clicking The Legend of Kirk and Fishdog tab in his header.
