Returning to Spain

Returning to Spain

A vacation in Dénia, Spain last October may ultimately change our lives – our ambitions for a better quality of life, may result in emigrating to this region near the Eastern Spanish coast.

April 09 will be a revisit to the same town to understand whether this could be a place we might one day settle, and to understand more about its people, the town, and daily life as immigrants in coastal Spain.

The surrounding area has triggered a significant inspiration within me to pick up paintbrushes and watercolours for the first time in many years. A particular mountain castle at Guadalest, is a place I could happily spend the rest of my life trying to capture – it is a magical place.

The drawing of a tugboat above was captured in Dénia harbour, which serves both fishing boats and ferries to and from Ibiza.

Staged watercolor exercise

Staged watercolor exercise

Just a brief dabble with the evil that is watercolour, and one immediately understands that taming it’s wild, watery ways will take a lifetime. However, I recently came to realise that without actually trying, I don’t stand a chance in a dozen lifetimes.
The latest project is a tutorial piece from David Bellamy’s Developing Your Watercolours. [...]

Three new illustrations

Three new illustrations

It has been a while, but I finally got around to finishing the most recent illustration and scanning the previous two that have been sat in the Moleskine for a couple of months. Art seems to be low priority behind the book lately.

A place for my art at last

A place for my art at last

Finally, after great deliberation, dead ends, and false starts, I’ve created a place for my illustrations, drawings and other art to live:
aUniqueSpace.co.uk
The site has no preview thumbnails, it’s a ‘journey’ through various artworks – mostly those within my main Moleskine sketchbook. I have also added some text beneath each one. These texts may give you [...]

Chairs and Headskirts (new drawings)

It has been far too long since I posted any drawings, so today I managed to finally get around to scanning some previously completed pieces from the trusty Moleskine.

NaNoWriMo on the BBC

NaNoWriMo on the BBC

Sitting in front of BBC Breakfast morning magazine programme this morning and up pops a short feature about Nanowrimo.
It was a rather trivial piece and would likely go unnoticed by most people, but it is good to know that what is a growing activity every November is gaining some attention from mainstream press – and [...]

TableRappers – the prelude episode

TableRappers – the prelude episode

I have been playing a little catch-up this past week on my writing and development schedule for TableRappers. Today (Sunday) was to be the recording of the prelude episode audio, to offer time to mix and mess with it this coming week, prior to release next weekend. This is a huge learning process, which means [...]

Now all I need is three months off work…

This weekend is planning and execution weekend (no rolling heads involved) for the Table Rappers: Persistent Spirit audio novel.
First some time yesterday morning to plan out the workload leading up to release of the promos and prelude episode by the end of November. There is a huge amount to accomplish – far more than any [...]

Phishing DNS Trojan hits Mac OSX

Phishing DNS Trojan hits Mac OSX

MacWorld reports a genuine Trojan risk on Mac OSX

It was always inevitable that the stronger market share Apple achieve, the more chance there is of the less desirable elements of the internet world to want to attack its system and users. Though nowhere near as vulnerable as most Windows systems, we will certainly see an [...]
