There’s a golden fleece in the podcasting world which has been eluding pretty much everyone : monetising the vast majority of shows which have smaller audiences and less focused niche.
If your show is pulling half a million media requests/downloads or more a month, securing some sponsorship or advertising is pretty straightforward. Those numbers are a [...]

I have been asked a few times: How do you podcast something on itunes? Here is an easy way to give your podcast audience with a straightforward, one-click link to enable them to regularly and automatically receive your podcast in iTunes – without all that messing around in iTunes itself.
Over at the Apple website, I [...]

Normally I post about my limited standup comedy experiences, but this one surpasses anything I experienced. Patton Oswalt is a comedy actor and comedian – if you’ve seen the US sitcom King of Queens, you’ll recognise him as Spence.
You will need to scroll about two thirds down the page to the post entitled : 4/27 [...]

If there’s one clear message from the rise of this thing we currently call podcasting (both audio and video) the traditional media industry needs to pay attention to, it’s that the secret is out: creating content people want to watch or listen to is not as hard or expensive to produce as they’ve led us [...]

I cannot honestly say it’s been the greatest struggle ever, but it has been a time of great deliberation about what Linked Media will offer podcasters. The company works to bridge the gulf between podcasters and content providers (i.e. mobile networks, mobile content channels (both referred to as ‘distributor’ from now on), etc. – note the use of the word mobile more than once). From face to face discussions I have already had, the mobile space is looking for more content and looking at podcasting as a source of that content…. It is certainly forward thinking, way forward in fact because right now the broad take-up of podcasts over mobile networks is severely stifled by the cost of mobile bandwidth. When the cost does come down – and it will, whether it be in a month, two months or a year – we hope Linked Media will be in a strong enough position, with perhaps some content supply deals already in place, to help get the podcasters out there.

They have integrated some lovely AJAX enabled online post creation and editing, but many bloggers use offline editors to manage the post content.Thankfully the fix is just a matter of tweaking two lines of code in a single PHP file – and the next Wordpress update will have the problem solved, apparently. You can find the fix here: ecto: WordPress 2.0 breaks upload (fixes), and it seems to work just fine.Still some issue of not having control over where the file upload is stored, but for me that’s a problem I can live with.

Enough for an entire and disturbingly large website, it seems. So get a coffee, kick back and relax with more bee-dogs than you can buzz your fuzz at (and a sprinkle of ladybug-dogs to boot). See such magical sights as the owner who actually died their dog’s fur bee-coloured, the selection of less than perfectly content to be a bee-dog dogs, and of course, my favourite: Samuel L Jackson the bee-dog (click inset picture for a large version).Discovered via If…Else via Paint the Tiger – Carve the Swan.

An interesting project I am involved in is to smash the traditional stuck in the dark-ages attitude of PR and slap it in the face with the bleeding edge of new media communication.Oh yes.In the world of PR – not my personal expertise – this is a daring concept. Focusing purely on blogging, podcasting and vcasting as a means of internal communication in particular – though not to the exclusion of company or product marketing and promotion – audacious hopes to strengthen the validity of such tools as a viable means of corporate communication.
