Although the response was much quicker than anticipated – perhaps we are in world record off- season – I received notification today that my and phil’s application for May’s record breaking podcast event has been rejected as an official record attempt…. Fingers crossed they are able to look on this and make a genuine consideration that our fun time in May could be a worthy record breaking event.

I spent an hour last week chatting over Skype with Adam Curry. If you don’t know the name, then likely you are not into podcasting.Covering topics such as the cross-Atlantic attitudes to podcasters, Podshow’s possible commercial presence in London, podcasting and mobile phones, and some of the recent activity within the UK podcasting space – in particular the MCPS-PRS podcaster music license and the possible formation of a UK Podcasters Association.Coming perfectly timed just before Adam and other members of the Podshow team get together for an informal meet with UK podcasters this coming Sunday in London, I hope this interview gives some food for thought and an insight into Podshow’s motives and ideals for their involvement with podcasters in the UK.

Your registration will be checked by an admin for eligibility.”And the Terms & Conditions state that a podcast is considered British only if: “At least one of the regular significant, audible contributors to the podcast show must be a citizen of the UK or UK expat living abroad.”Yet, over a third of podcast submissions are from podcasters who are clearly not British (mostly American)!… The form itself even bounces if the registrant chooses any nationality other than British – stating in a bright red error message: “Britcaster only accepts registrations from British podcasters…”I realise that many podcasters out there desperate for an extra listener or two will just fill in forms willy-nilly, but how do they believe a blatant mirepresentation by being a non British podcast on an exclusively British listing site can benefit them in any way?It escapes me.I check all submissions manually for eligibility and request further evidence of their Britishness if it is not clear from the podcast and/or website that they are in fact British.

Phil Coynes, creator, producer and presenter of the bitjobs for the masses independent music podcast, started a weekly internet radio live show last night.”It was knackering though,” he said in a chat this morning, “I had IMs being thrown at me all over the place…. I can sympathise after doing several live radio shows over Live 365 a couple of years ago.Phil is planning to grow the show with more great music and special guests.
