It’s all about Podcasting. It seems my efforts building BritCaster.com have ended up in me being invited to take part in a discussion about Podcasting on Simon Mayo’s radio show next Wednesday.
Seems Mr. Mayo plans to distribute some of his program content as podcasts and wants to discuss and educate his listeners about podcasting. Others there will represent a more techie side and they are trying to get Daddy A. Curry in on the chat - though he’s stateside next week.
My remit is to try to demystify podcasting, remove its perceived geeky exclusivity and make it a more approachable alternative to radio for the average non-technical person. They have also asked that I would produce a brief audio introduction to podcasting which they will make available for download from the BBC site. That’s sweet, and will be a fun thing to do.
I am hoping to achieve some additional promotion for Britcaster and PodasctCon UK and promote British podcasters as much as possible. Who knows… it might inspire one or two more people to plug in their mic and start podcasting!
I like the idea of the big broadcasters accepting the podcasting format as a viable means of reaching their audience. After all, they can reach people when, for example, they are traveling on the tube or an individual DJ can reach his personal audience outside of his usual show times. Well done, Beeb.
The only reason I did it, of course, was the bejeweled carrot they dangled of having a VIP parking spot right in the front of the building. OK, so maybe not just that reason, but hey, I get to drive in through those BBC gates and park my car - gonna feel great.

Hi Neil,
Good luck with the BBC interview. I’m all for evangelising blogging and podcasting! (particularly in the UK)
Great site by the way! I found it via BritCaster.
All the best.
